Moving On – Taio Cruz, Departure
S’funny how things turn out sometimes, isn’t it? If I look back at August this year, things were really very ordinary. I was a married mum-of two, killing myself quietly in a stupidly-long-hours job in recruitment, commuting to Bristol every day on the train. I lived in a nice house in Bath, grew vegetables in the garden, looked after my lovely chickens and walked my labrador in the countryside. I baked muffins, for fuck’s sake. All that was missing was an Aga and some Cath Kidston tea towels.
Well, roll forward just two months and it’s looking a bit different – I have separated from the Other Half, left the marital home and quit the brain-melting job to be a freelance writer. And my poor lovely chickens are dead – eaten by a fox in what was clearly some kind of evil metaphor for impending doom.
And now I live on a boat – my mum’s narrowboat, which has featured in this blog several times before as the scene of many hapless holiday antics. I’ll be here until March, and of course have lots of tell you already, so I might try a few more bite-sized blogs over the coming weeks. I only moved in last week, so I’m still settling in to life afloat.
More to follow.
